One of the 3 best night views in the world
Hakodate is known famous as the 3 best night views in the world. I traveled over there first time in October 2015.
I was in Hakodate with my friend on October 11th and 12th. We traveled from tokyo to Hakodate by plane. The view from the plane was wonderful for me. because I could see the Tsugaru stairs in Aomori. I have hoped that I could see it someday. The tsugaru stairs are between Hakodate, in the south part of Hokkaido and Aomori in the north of Honshu island. You can also see wonderful view of Aomori right before landing at Hakodate airport.
We reached there at 8:30 am. It took about 20 minutes by bus from the airport to Hakodate station. The fare was 420yen. There are many tourist spots near the station; morning market, sushi and sashimi restaurant, a red brick warehouse, Goryokaku, hotsprings, and Mt Hakodate.
These places are all within walking distance expect for Goryokaku and the hot springs. First, we walked around the markets briefly. After that, we had brunch at Sensho a sushi restaurant. It's in Donburi-yokocho. We chose it. Because it seemed quiet. The other restaurants were very noisy.
Even though it was the morning restaurant. We went to the restaurant, and I ate oysters, a surf clam, tuna, pike and a sea urchin sushi. All of them were raw. And I drank a glass of cold sake. The total cost was 5,000 yen. We thought it kind of expensive, but since the food was very good. It was worth it. Sensho's owner was very friendly to us. He recomended other good restaurents to us. And we told him that we might have dinner at one of them.

After that, We went to Gryokaku and Gryokaku tower by bus. The bus fare was 240yen. Long time ago, Gryokaku was something like a bank. There are some similarly-shaped building in other countries as well. The admission was free. However Gryokaku tower's admission was 840yen. At the top of the tower there are panoramic views of the Hakodate area. It was beautiful. I used the binoculars there and saw Hakodate port. It was a very important trading port in the past. I thought that it was an important building because foreigners taught the japanese how to build it.
